LAUREN GRANT
Lauren paints people in unguarded moments, caught in the private corners of domestic interiors; bathrooms, bedrooms, places where they are alone and not performing for anyone else. These are the in-between moments that happen when nobody is watching.
She is interested in what people choose to reveal, and what remains hidden. Intimate and vulnerable, her subjects are caught in moments of quiet unveiling, a particular kind of honesty that only exists when the audience disappears.
Using soft light, muted colour and small-scale compositions, her work feels personal and close, while still leaving space for ambiguity. Nothing is overstated. The paintings don't demand a reaction, they invite you in slowly, asking you to sit with the uncomfortable and the beautiful at once.
